Presence of file "LB\Games\<Platform>\Platform.xml" => using games in sub folders named "LBGameName [year]" as per current import option (year is optional). Platform.xml may also contain metadata used to override the LB platform metadata on first import. Can be used to add custom platforms Each Game sub-folder optionally contains a Game.xml file used to override metadata when the game is first added. File has <Game> tag with 1+ static fields (Completed, Developer, Favourite, Notes, Platform, Publisher,Rating, DatabaseID, WikipediaURL, Title, Version, Broken, Genre, ReleaseType, MaxPlayers, VideoUrl) (same as Game Tags in current LB\Data\Platforms\<platformName>.xml file). Can be used to add missing/custom games. Each game folder also contains all the media for that game named MediaType_SubFolder (Subfolder optional) eg "Box - Back_Japan.jpg" => equivalent to being at "LB\Images\Atari 2600\Box - Back\Japan\Space Invaders.jpg" --Example file structure @ C:\Emu\LaunchBox\Games\Atari 2600\Space Invaders [1980]\ Box - 3D.png Box - 3D-02.png Box - Back.jpg Box - Back_Hack.jpg Box - Back_Japan.jpg Box - Back-02.jpg Box - Front.jpg Box - Front_Hack.jpg Cart - Front.png Clear Logo.png Fanart - Background.jpg Game.xml Manual.pdf Screenshot - Gameplay.png Space Invaders (Hack).zip Space Invaders (Japan).zip Space Invaders (USA).zip Video.mp4 Video_Theme.mp4 Video_Trailer.mp4 Bezel.png So, why do this? .Games/Meta are self contained so easy to quickly drag & drop game(s) from PC to other PC/android with all data to easily recreate .Variants are auto-grouped together (as current with folders) .No confusion over which rom or media LB is actually linking to. Easier to see what's missing and add new media. .Game.xml file allows easy addition of missing platforms/games or media/meta packs to be shared. Platform.xml can be used to add new platforms. .Leaves existing naming structures intact, just bolts on to top as simpler (imho) alternative file structure. Code-wise should be a lot easier than current, as files are all prenamed so all guesswork is eliminated. Just needs media location function to handle new location alternative. Let me know what you think. Thanks for reading.

Hi there Im a new user of bigbox and i find this app really awesome! I usually google/solved most of the issues i came across pretty easily and my game collection is taking a nice shape (and space). ? But now i cant really find a easy/reliable solution for my problem. 1 - i have alot of arcade roms in a single folder "Arcade" 2 - i created cps1/cps2/taito/etc playlists and everything works fine ofc. 3 - but... what i really want ... is to move the rom files (and sub roms/apps associated) of those playlists (or from a platform) to separeted folders and this way create a platform for each arcade system and making my retroarch setup easier. Why bother? you ask well.. first i was thinking of doing that but had no reason except my OCD, and.... later on i found out the bezel project for retropie. I quickly managed to convert all those cfg files to the windows retroarch quite fast (using an app called text replacer tool) and having costum bezels for each game in several platforms (nes, mame, snes, etc) with minimal effort. But the arcade/mame platform (im using fba for retroarch) screwed my plans, some bezels had dif aspect ratios and i could not use the same core settings for all games like i did with all the other platforms. I quickly found out that was related to the system itself... so... basically if i place each system roms in their folder (cps1, cps2, nintendo arcade, taito, etc) i could easily setup core settings by folder in retroarch and problem solved! tl:dr Is there an easy way to move roms from a launchbox platform / playlist (and their associated apps or roms) to another folder? or i will need help from a rom manager? sorry for the wall of text, thanks in advance!

I want to know if I can move or have the images folder and video folder from the main launchbox root folder move somewhere else on drive? What im trying to do is use a RamDisk software to access the launchbox application Ram disk basic capacity is only about 1gb so I will not be able to use with launchbox.. what the application does is makes any application run much faster video I guess I might also need to move VLC folder.

I'm looking through the Launchbox directory and finding a bunch of empty folders. Where are the game images (box art, banners, etc.) stored?

Ok so i have c64 covertapes that im importing into launchbox. Each tape is stored as an individual folder ie Powerpack #01 (commodore format covertapes) & Inside the folders are the individual .tap files of the contained games. So when i import using folder names as game titles i get 64 roms listed as powerpack 0-64 respectively. Ok, so far so good. Only thing is the additional apps (the individual games in the folder) are all named after the folder too instead of their actual name. So when i right click the listed title i just see 'play powerpack version...' 4 times. Instead of 4 seperately named games. How can i import with folder names as titles but have the individual files inside the folder listed with their proper names?

Moved my external HDD off the PC and attached to my QNAP NAS. The HDD contains ROMS but have LaunchBox locally on the PC still. The idea is to share the ROMs between multiple devices. Trying to use the "Change ROMs Folder Path For Selected Games..." but the folder dialog does not allow typing paths (\\nas\roms) and the NAS is not discoverable under "Network". Can we use UNC paths? It seems you can type a path for a single game in its edit dialog, not seeing how to do this in bulk though. Hoping I am just missing something simple here. Thanks a lot!

Is there any way to create favorite folders in Big Box through Launch Box? I have it by manufacturer right now so it shows the favorites in each of that category. I would like to have one folder that has the 40 or so I like the most. Or I could even have folders by "shooter", "platformer", etc. Thanks in advance for your help!
