I'm encountering an issue in Windows 11 using a Dualshock 4 controller via bluetooth (have not tested wired). When opening Big Box, the controller works correctly to navigate initially. However, if the controller has been used by another application Big Box no longer appears to receive any input from it. I can no longer navigate with it, and cannot map the inputs. Disconnecting and reconnecting the controller resolves the issue, but only until the controller is used in another application. The order does not matter, i.e. if I connect a controller, launch a game in Dolphin, close Dolphin, and open Big Box, the controller does not work; if I connect a controller, open Big Box (controller works), launch a Steam game via Big Box, then close it and return to Big Box, the controller does not work. This issue does not impact any other applications, I can switch between RetroArch, PCSX2, Dolphin, and Steam and they all recognize and use the controller successfully. I haven't noticed any changes in the device description in the device list. Also, to address some basic things I've already tried: Using a different gamepad: I had access to an old 3rd party USB Xbox360 controller, and it did not experience this issue. However, it's not practical for me to by a full set of new gamepads and configure them for all my other applications (assuming they'd even work) Using another of the same gamepad: This has the exact same issues. Including the same behavior of working until another application uses it. So if the first gamepad stops working, I can connect a second one and use it to launch one game, at which point it will also stop working in Big Box. Toggling controller related settings inside Big Box: I've toggled all three settings (use controllers, use all controllers, problematic controllers) to all of their various options, both before and after the issue arises, with and without restarting Big Box, as well as having two controllers in the non-working state and switching between them as the selected controller (all controllers: off). None of this helps DS4Windows: unfortunately not a good option for me since it breaks controller input for all of my RetroArch cores. RetroArch has an open issue on GitHub about it (#14063), but it doesn't look like it's moving much, although maybe I'll take a swing at it. After writing all of this, I worry that this should have been a bug ticket rather than a troubleshooting request, but if anyone has ideas I'm happy to give them a shot.

Zelda Ultima Stand Alone Big Box View File 🗡️ Zelda Ultima is finally making its debut on the forum! NEW upload is DONE ! I wish it could have been easier, but I think this is a first — the servers just aren’t used to handling so many gigabytes. Uploading was a real nightmare.^^ I had to play it smart: splitting the files without creating too many parts, so you don’t get lost. Because let’s be honest — if there were 36 files to install, nobody would actually go through with it.😄 ✅🟩 FINAL STATUS: CHECK OK 🔹 Installation steps for Zelda Ultima Dezip with 7zip only! Create a Folder Zelda Ultima =Start with the first part: once unzipped, part of your Ultima will already begin to rebuild, and you’ll quickly find your bearings. Then move on to the second part, and so on: step by step, everything will fall back into place. ⚠️ Note: you may see some error messages during extraction, but don’t worry — the files will still unzip correctly. Final step – Zelda Final: this file was mistakenly placed inside a “Zelda Ultima” folder. 👉 You’ll need to manually extract its content: Place the .exe files and launch icons directly in the LaunchBox root folder. Copy the small “Video” folder to the root as well — it contains the intro Desktop 2025.09.10 - 09.54.38.06.mp4 3) Create a special folder: “Fan Game and Remake Unreal”( ( (You can skip this step if you do not want to benefit from bonuses)) Place it inside your Games folder. Extract individually inside it: Fan Games Part 1 Fan Games Part 2 Remake Unreal Temple of Time It should look like this: Games → Fan Game and Remake Unreal → (unzipped files) 4) Install the FONTS! Go to the folder “BEFORE TO LAUNCH”. Read the Tuto !!!! Install all the fonts (this step is crucial). ⚠️ Without them, you’ll lose about 40% of the visual consistency and encounter bugs. 5) Final adjustments: Install the HEVC codec to avoid black screens. Copy and paste your license. Disable updates (I stayed on version 13.21). 6) Useful controls: 🎮 R3 on the controller or V on the keyboard → switch the main theme (4 choices). 🎮 The very same control also lets you switch between the 12 different game views. 🎮 Back button → pause menu while in-game. ✨ That’s it! You’re ready to dive into Zelda Ultima. Take your time, explore, enjoy… and most importantly: share your feedback with me! 📜 Decree of Sharing — Zelda Ultima ⚔️ Hear me, wanderers. I have received countless requests — many from shadowed profiles, strangers from distant frontends. Out of kindness, I granted them an alternate path, a secret link to step inside this realm. But after years of creation, after countless hours shaping this Ultima, I asked for one simple tribute in return: your voice, your feedback, your impressions. Yet some are nothing but resource hunters, unable to see the work as a whole. Others don’t even launch the Ultima, content with taking without ever exploring. That is the least that honors this journey. If you desire the sharing to continue, if you want this adventure to live on, then show me it is worth it. ⚡ Give me strength. ⚡ Give me reason. ⚡ And I shall share even more. Thanks ! This is the oldest of my Ultima Editions, and the one that best captures the spirit of the entire project. It’s been locked away for three years, and I finally offered it to the staff so it could be shared with the community! I’m making a real effort to open things up a bit more — It’s time people finally discover the work I’ve poured into this. But I count on you to keep it clean, respectful, and above all... magical ✨ 🎭 This project must not end up as a messy torrent after all these years of work. We’re here to celebrate a passion, not to trash it. 🧰 What’s the Ultima format? A fully standalone, all-in-one experience that immerses you in a single legendary universe—crafted with a level of detail and customization rarely seen. It’s a digital collector’s dream, a tribute to iconic franchises like Zelda, Castlevania, Final Fantasy. Imagine the ultimate fan-made box set—beautifully designed, completely free, and overflowing with nostalgic passion. The goal behind the Ultima Editions is to bring digital games closer to the richness and charm of physical collections, which are becoming harder and harder to access (too rare, too expensive). So I pack in as many bonuses as possible: artwork, music, cinematic intros, hidden content… Each project, like Zelda Ultima, is built as a fully immersive collector’s experience. 🎁 What’s waiting for you inside? 🎨 A solid forty game themes, each evolving alongside my craft — polished, reworked, and bursting with character. 45 icons dedicated: 🖥️ 12 unique views — every slot filled, fully loaded, and ready to explore. A pause menu ( with the world map )a shutdown and of course a start theme! Most guides and encyclopedias have been converted into interactive flipbooks with animated backgrounds for maximum immersion. (One classic guide — A Link to the Past — is included by default so you can test the format.) 🎮 Fan-Made Remakes 5 playable demos of Ocarina of Time remade in Unreal Engine 4 & 5. Eye candy meets nostalgia. 🎧 Hey Listen! A curated selection of iconic Zelda tracks and fan-made covers. Turn it up — Hyrule never sounded this good. 🔍The Time Line in 3 part 🏛️ Temple of Time Explore the Temple of Time in real time, available in both VR and desktop mode. Atmosphere guaranteed . 🗡️ Art of Artifact Rediscover the saga’s most legendary items, reimagined and rendered with love. Master Sword chills included. 🎬 Short Films A handpicked selection of Zelda-inspired fan films. Some of them will absolutely give you goosebumps. ❤️ Another Pad Universes Explore the Trailers and Showcase sections for even more immersive ! Before you launch anything: Make sure your license is integrated (mandatory) Install the HEVC codecs to avoid black screens Install ALL the fonts — seriously, all of them — or some views might look totally broken You can launch in big box mode, (don't hesitate to do a little by the refresh box and caching in the system) 🛡️Credits: The Dream Team Here’s a quick spotlight on some of the amazing people who’ve helped shape this journey: 🎼 Sam Dillard on music — because you don’t save Hyrule without a soundtrack that gives you chills. 🎨 @Bellhenge created most of the icons (which I lovingly upscaled, pixel by pixel). 🎮 CryZenXX has been following the project closely and definitely deserves a shrine in the fan-made section for his Ocarina of Time Unreal Engine demos. 👑 Henricko’s Magnifico — I even crafted special icons and themes to showcase his breathtaking 4K patches! And of course, all the amazing contributors over the years — I’ve got a special thank-you video just for you. 💖 You’ve helped shape this dream, one sprite at a time. A massive thank-you to @y2guru, the Architect of the Community creator— Without him, none of this would have been possible. Thanks to @Mr. RetroLust for his enormous work on the console bezel ALTERNATIVE GAME THEME HERE : Looking for something less cinematic and more classic with gameplay for your themes? Hello all, i am not sure if this happened after the udpate of Launchbox V13.22 but every game in Big Box (Old Default Theme) is shown as an completed game (see picture). Even games that i have never played are shown as completed. Is this fixable or is this theme not supported anymore? Other themes have not that issue.

Hello all, i am trying to update my platform wheel logos with the image pack from Dan Patrick but unfortunately the logos are not changing. I have already tried to go to options and empty the graphic cache. I also deleted everything in the Cache-BB folder. What am i missing? I put the image in the Clear Logo folder and name it exactly like the platform folder but i always see the old platform logo. Updating the banner pictures of the platforms works without any problem.

Hello, I'm trying to use an EG Starts joystick to navigate through Big Box, but Big Box does not recognize my joystick inputs when attempting to map inputs. Big Box recognizes all of my arcade buttons and keyboard, just not the joystick. The arcade buttons and joystick are all plugged into the same board, which is then connected to a Windows 10 PC via USB. The driver is installed correctly since all of my emulators recognize the joystick when mapping controls and I'm able to play games just fine. It's just Big Box that doesn't recognize the joystick inputs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm also open to acquiring different joysticks that are known to work with Big Box if needed. Thanks!

Installing this plugin adds "Shutdown Video" functionality when closing Big Box. How To Use This Plugin Download the plugin. Unzip to the plugins folder. Add a video to the LaunchBox\Videos folder named shutdown.mp4 (if you need a shutdown video, some of the startup videos work great for this as well) That's it. The next time you close Big Box, your shutdown video will play. Thanks for your time, thanks to the community, and I hope you enjoy.- 2 comments

I'm having an issue getting some Teknoparrot games to run full screen in Big Box. For example, H2Overdrive and the FNF games. If set to full screen in TP it won't launch at all, I have to set it to windowed, which works in TP or Launchbox but won't work in Big Box. All it does is sit on a black screen forever. Outside of Big Box I'm able to workaround the full screen issue by using the Borderless Gaming app, but that won't work in Big Box either. I'm running a Ryzen 6600H Mini PC with integrated Radeon 660 graphics. Has anyone figured out how to get these TP games running full screen in Big Box on an AMD graphics system? Thanks!

I am currently using moonlight/sunshine to stream Big Box to my Apple TV 4K in another room. I have tried launching a switch game using ryujinx that I have setup and configured in Launchbox. I After launching the game, I am able to use the controller to navigate Big Box's UI and all, but in the game, none of the buttons or controls seems to work at all. Anyone know how to fix this?

I was just wondering if anyone can tell me how to get my videos to display in 16:9 like the photo on the bottom for unified redux theme mine is the one the top with square 4:3 video snaps (i know i have to edit the border image in theme as well later) just unsure on how to get the video to play without the black bars, I only want to have 16:9 playback for select platforms (ps3, switch, et) I was having trouble finding a solution in the forums and I went to the discord and was recommended to switch to Unified Refried with a Queso mod for this, however I'm just trying my luck here to see if anyone has a solution as I really like the look of redux and am unfamiliar mods.

Hi all. I'm experiencing an issue with the latest version of Big Box (13.11) on my Windows 11 machine . After updating to this version, Big Box fires up with no problems and I can scroll/launch games without issue. However, Big Box will lock up and freeze every time I try to access Big Box settings (by pressing ESC from the Big Box main menu). I then have to close Big Box from the Win 11 taskbar AND wipe it from the task manager in order to relaunch the program. Is this a known issue with this version of Big Box? I'd provide a log but I don't get an error message...just a frozen screen. I reinstalled version 13.11 and 13.10 from the Update folder and the issue still persists. Thanks!

This theme is a port of the HyperSpin Unified Widescreen Megatheme project, which was originally started by gibbawho and continued by many other talented artists over the years. It’s supposed to bring a unified look (hence the name) across all platforms while giving every platform it’s own individual touch. I’ve tried to stay very close to the original look and feel but also took some creative freedom, especially when it comes to the new fading info panel at the bottom of the screen. This theme was designed for 16:9 screens and display resolutions only. Big Box will automatically scale itself to a 16:9 aspect ratio when you use a different aspect ratio on your machine. Features: Individual Artwork for a lot of different platforms and playlists + some alternatives you can choose from Matches with the Unified platform video set from EmuMovies Fully animated wheel pointer Spinning discs for disc-based platforms Various other custom animations Templates to build your own platform artwork are included as .psd files Brings a small taste of the HyperSpin feeling to your Big Box setup Currently featured Views: Games Text List View: 3D Box Games Vertical Wheel View 1: 3D Box Games Vertical Wheel View 2: 3D Box + static cart/disc Games Vertical Wheel View 3: 3D Box + rotating disc Games Vertical Wheel View 4: Fullscreen video Platform Vertical Wheel View 1: Fullscreen video + scrolling text Platform Vertical Wheel View 2: Fullscreen video without scrolling text More Views are planned, so stay tuned. The theme includes artwork for the following 498 Platforms/Playlists: The theme will also display a default artwork for Platforms/Playlists which are not yet covered or wrongly named. How to install: This theme only works on LaunchBox version 9.4 or higher! Just download the archive and extract it to: “..\LaunchBox\Themes\” Go to the “Plugins” folder inside of the extracted folder and right-click on the .dll file. Choose Properties -> Click on “Unblock” at the bottom of the window. Close the window. If the "Unblock" button isn't there than you are already good to go. Open the Options menu in Big Box -> go to “Views” and change the Theme to "Unified". Change the “Games List View” and “Platforms List View” to one of the currently featured Views that are listed above. Make sure that in the Big Box Options -> Views –> “Show Games List Title” is enabled. Info: Never rename the theme folder! The theme folder has to be named exactly "Unified" or the theme won't work properly! (that's btw. an universal tip for all other themes as well) Known issues: The logo of the Platform/Playlist and the individual video border don't show up in the Game Details screen and the theme displays the generic Big Box logo and metallic video border instead when it gets opened through any other Games View than the Text List View. Tips for tweaking your LaunchBox setup for this theme: In LaunchBox: Tools -> Options -> Cart Front Priorities -> Select all Cart and Disc related entries, deselect everything else. In Big Box: Options ->Transitions -> Change "Game Image/Video Transition” to “Fade” In Big Box: To avoid spinning cart art go to: Options -> Views -> Make sure that „Remember separate View for each platform” is checked. Than go either to the Keyboard Mappings or the Controller Buttons settings and set up a key/button for “Switch View”. Now you can go back to your platforms and switch the games Views for each platform individually on the fly. Use the Unified Platform videos from EmuMovies for an overall uniform look. You can either download them as free user from the EmuMovies website or if you are an EmuMovies premium user you can get them directly through LaunchBox under: Tools -> "Download Platform/Playlist Theme Videos". Individual platform artwork not showing up?: The media files that are inside the “..\LaunchBox\Themes\Unified\Images\Theme\..” folder have to be named exactly like your platforms inside LaunchBox. I've went with the HyperList/RocketLauncher naming conventions for the filenames in this package. If Big Box doesn’t show any individual artwork for a system that is listed above you may need to manually rename the relevant files for that platform in all four sub-folders. Also make sure that in the Big Box Options -> Views –> “Show Games List Title” is enabled! Discs are not spinning / showing up?: Make sure you have the right Games List View selected and Disc images in your Cart Image Priorities enabled (see the tips section of this download description). Having a problem with big box where my screen cuts out any time a change is made on screen. So if I'm viewing my platform wheel and move it up or down the screen will go black for a few seconds then come back on, I don't lose sound, only video. Or if I press escape to get to the menu the same thing happens. I tried plugging into a different port on my video card and swapping monitor cables but neither worked long. I don't believe its a video card problem because it doesn't happen at all while running any other software or videos. Any thoughts to what could be causing this? Windows 10 machine, gpu is AMD RX570. 20230709_152916_1.mp4

BannerBox 4k BannerBox 4k aims to fix the low resolution of all banners (1080p or 512p) from BannerBox original theme by upscaling them to 8k first and then downscaling them to 4k (2160p) to reduce image size and performance impact. In addition I also fixed wrong used names, added new missing system banners with correct naming and replaced some original banners with alternative versions I prefer. It is all listed in the changelog section at the bottom. With this method of upscaling you can finally enjoy popping art and details. The larger the screen you use this theme on, the bigger the difference perceived. Best viewed at full screen with Image Comparison Slider. If you notice any little difference on your monitor, then it is worth using this 4k upgrade. P.S. I don't know how to make a comparison with a slider so I left the two images side by side. Platforms Categories (Before\After) - Consoles (Before\After) - Handhelds (Before\After) - Computers (Before\After) - Arcades (Before\After) - Requirements: - BannerBox 2.1 as the active BigBox theme. Installation: - Download the BannerBox 4k - 1.0.zip file and extract the images folder inside the downloaded file to your Launchbox\Themes\BannerBox folder. Overwrite Everything when asked. Now set the following options in the BigBox options menu: - On Images Cache, refresh all images to display the new installed banners. - On Images, set the CoverFlow Image Quality to Highest (Slowest) for best lossless visuals, however you can also keep it as you had previously. Enjoy! Massive thanks to the original authors of the theme, the contributors of the official banners and the community who created banners for missing and existing systems, playlists and apps. If you feel like you don't wanna belong here with your banner, just tell me and I will remove them, and if you want upscaled versions of your personal banners let me know. I tested that everything worked for a huge amount of systems, let me know if you find problems, missing banners, wrong naming, or if you like me to add new or different banners. Changelog & Credits: Changes are in comparison to the original BannerBox theme 2.1 at stock. v1.0

My PC is using one desktop monitor, and one Samsung TV (60" or 70"...somewhere in that neighbourhood). I have Big Box mode running on the TV. The UI and emulation and everything else fits just fine, but the manuals all have this huge gray area to the left and I can only scroll up/down and zoom, not pan left or right. You can see what I'm talking about from the attached images. Thanks for any help!

Apologies if this is posted in the incorrect place but I'm currently trying to customize a 4x3 CRT theme that was posted here (they're few and far between) and I'm having a weird issue. The goal: Vertical wheel slides in from left side and lands (good to go here); user scrolls box art with ONLY the top title changing as the user scrolls (also good to go); user stops at a possible game to be played, 2 seconds in - video of the game play (if available) or alternatively a screenshot of a "main" screen to show the user what the game is slides in from right side (this is the beat where I'm having issues). The problem: For some reason as it stands now when the user stops on a game, the video pops in instantly for .5 second and then disappears (or flashes off and on a few times before disappearing) then my animation plays out as designed. I've checked to make sure there aren't any hidden animations triggering these weird pop-ins and I can't find one. Is what I'm asking for something that's not possible? Is there any way to avoid this video/art pop-in upon game selection? It doesn't break big box in any way, it just gives it an unfinished look. I've attached a video for reference BigBox_AnimErrors_1.mp4 Thanks in advance!
