Firefox Preloader is a nifty application that cuts your computer some slack. If you have a slow(er) or old(er) machine, you know what a pain it is to fire applications up for the first time.

I mean after you reboot, when the application hasn't been moved to the memory yet. Some applications can take minutes to load. Of course, you could upgrade your PC, but there is no fun in that. This application does a little trick. It loads certain components of the web browser Firefox into the memory well before you are going to need to open it. So, when you do need to open it, the amount of data that has to me moved from your hard drive to the memory is minimal. I have been able to prove this application and got a nice improvement over the loading speeds I used to have. We are talking about 10 or 20 seconds, at best. Still, that is pretty good for a software tweak, which is also free. If you have an older version of Windows, you will benefit more from running this application at start-up than if you have Windows Vista.

Pros

  • Speeds up the loading of Firefox

Cons

  • Only works in slow, old computers
