Removed Comment That was my understanding, most of the fear of Kessler syndrome starts when you're talking about things higher up in orbit like at 600km or more. by TranscendentalEmpire@lemmy.today

Removed Comment > shame if all those satellites lost their ability to be maintained I mean, what's the worst that could happen? They'd just burn up in the atmosphere. More than likely the government would just take possession of the system if they had a critical dependency on them. by TranscendentalEmpire@lemmy.today

Removed Comment > historically starlink’s satellites don’t always burn up in the atmosphere as they should Any examples of that? My understanding is that they are in the same low orbit (400km) as the iss, and anything that low has to actively use some kind of thruster to maintain orbit. The danger of Kessler syndrome really starts around 600km (orbit of Hubble) where deris can take decades to be cleared by atmospheric drag, and especially when 800-900km where it could take centuries. by TranscendentalEmpire@lemmy.today

Removed Comment I think that's kinda an unfair comparison considering this wasn't really a collision and more of a planned destruction via hypersonic missile. It really isn't relevant to the original argument that star link satellites would mostly likely just burn up on reentry if left alone. by TranscendentalEmpire@lemmy.today

Removed Comment Yup. And Zen had quite a bit of calling out to various random servers last I gave it a look. Both can be decent browser but I think not good recommendations in this context. Librewolf and Waterfox are both in line though. Other forks worth consideration: - [GNUZilla IceCat](https://www.gnu.org/software/gnuzilla/) - [IronFox](https://codeberg.org/ironfox-oss/IronFox) (For Android!) - [Konform Browser](https://codeberg.org/konform-browser)^1^ - [Mullvad Browser](https://mullvad.net/browser) *^1^: Disclosure: Am dev.* by ken@discuss.tchncs.de

Removed Comment An LLM is better than literally nothing. There have been scandals of papers being basically copies of previous papers at conferences and that was only caught because some random online read the papers. Nobody is reading papers. Removed Comment Never got a chance to try it on arch, but I've heard ladybird browser is good. Ladybird is a new web browser completely made from scratch, I tried installing it today but for some reason the app refused to open. by solomonschuler@lemmy.zip

Removed Comment This feels a little sensational. While I'm disappointed the new CEO wants to waste time on it, as long as we can turn it odd its not terrible. And its still the only real competition to Chrome. All the forks still rely on Mozilla's work, though I would love to see that situation improve. by TheAgeOfSuperboredom@lemmy.ca

Removed Comment Unfortunately I don't think Servo is going to be a full browser anytime soon. They are working on a browser engine that others can embed into their applications. Presumably somebody could use that engine to build a browser, but I'm not aware of any projects working towards that right now. Personally I'm using FF with most of this crap disabled, holding out for Ladybird. by the_weez@midwest.social

Removed Comment Sorry but it's not like there are many options here... Ladybird is not even alpha yet so of course it does not work... and if a 5 second clip of someone using Copilot is enough to rule out a browser, well there will no options left I too want a world where a decent programmer I would like to buy a beer for is coding a lovely browser with no AI and that respects my privacy, but alas, we live in this horrible world where asking for that seems to be too much. At the end of the day, if ladybird happens to work well (when finished), I will use that instead of Edge or Chrome... you need to grow up people or we will all get run over by the very people we are trying to oppose by Jhex@lemmy.world
