Cloudplane is a collective-focused directory that opened to the public in January 2021. The name was carefully crafted by blending two words: "cloud" and "plane." Cloud represents an abstract concept, often used to convey emotions or moods, reflecting the artist's intent. Plane, on the other hand, refers to a level of existence, thought, or development, evoking imagery that aligns with what one is trying to visualize. Together, the name carries deeper meaning, symbolizing how every web owner is, in their own way, an artist expressing their creativity.

This directory is specifically dedicated to collective websites that focus on anime, manga, and video games. In the early 2000s, there was a surge of creative collectives—large and small—each representing a unique vision of the creator. Web directories served as niche spaces for discovering and connecting with these sites, fostering a sense of community and creative exchange.

Creativity is subjective, so instead of strict criteria, collectives are added to the directory based on their content's quality. It's about what sets them apart from other sites in the same genre—whether through personal opinions, analyses, critiques, or simply how they present their content. The essence of a collective lies in the way it reflects the webmaster's unique voice and vision.

What is a collective?

A collective serves as the central hub for a variety of fandoms and subjects, where web owners can showcase their interests, all gathered under one roof. Think of it like a tree: your main collective is the trunk, and the "fruits" it bears are the individual hobby sites you host. These fruits could be anything from fan-based content like shrines, tributes, and cliques to trading card games, graphic sites, fanfiction, writing, and other creative projects. These sites may focus on a specific subject or span across multiple interests, whether run by you alone or with others.

In short, I don't list each individual "fruit," but rather the "tree" that you've cultivated—the collective that brings everything together.

This stunning piece of artwork, illustrated by Amamori, immediately captivated me. Normally, I don't make such bold declarations, but this art is truly—for lack of a better word—magnificent. The transition from a dark theme to a lighter one was a refreshing change, perfectly aligning with the directory's name. The use of soft pastel colors throughout the second version created a more aesthetic, gentle feel. The directory script and form were coded by me and tested on PHP 8.x with MySQL 8.x. This design is optimized for resolutions of 1920x1080 or higher.
