Agree about that, Rob. Notepad++ is a lovely application. If you compare NotePad++ and NotePad (which despite their similar names are unrelated to each other) you will never want to use plain NotePad again. When you get to the bit about setting PATH permanently, ignore the bits about "optional" and set your PATH permanently, at least until you download a new version of Java. The NoClassDefFoundError means that the "java.exe" program has started running and not found a .class file. You usually get those two errors in the reverse order from what you reported.
You will hear about updating your CLASSPATH; that is not necessary at this stage.

please, what can i do again. i changed my path to C:\program files\java\jre 1.6.0_07\bin\javaw.exe
