Remove unnecessary static_casts in exception handling.

The switch statements on `exception_information[0]` do not
require casting to enum types, as the case labels are already
the integer values of the enum members.

Upstreaming this fix from Google.

Fix pointer-handling bug in write_random_seed().

Thanks to Joshua Rogers for the report: if writing the random seed
took more than one call to write(2), then we'd add the wrong value to
the data pointer between calls. Happily this is very unlikely to have
actually happened, because random seed files are tiny and surely
write() will in practice manage to write it all first time. But still
needs fixing.

edid-decode: fix speaker mappings

The SADB, HDMI ADB and RCDB all have slightly different speaker
mappings, unfortunately. So create three separate mappings for the
three DBs.

The SADB deprecation check was also incorrect, one bit was marked
as invalid, when it was really valid.

[cloud] Display build architecture in AWS EC2

On some newer (7th and 8th generation) instance types, the 32-bit
build of iPXE cannot access PCI configuration space since the ECAM is
placed outside of the 32-bit address space. The visible symptom is
that iPXE fails to detect any network devices.

The public AMIs are all now built as 64-bit binaries, but there is
nothing that prevents the building and importing of a 32-bit AMI.
There are still potentially valid use cases for 32-bit AMIs (e.g. if
planning to use the AMI only for older instance types), and so we
cannot sensibly prevent this error at build time.

Display the build architecture as part of the AWS EC2 embedded script,
to at least allow for easy identification of this particular failure
mode at run time.

gobi: Support raw-ip only devices

Some devices, such the Quectel EG25-G do not support 802.3 mode. In
fact, this device actually accepts the WDA Set Data Format command, but
doesn't actually change the data format. This causes gobi's data
format setup logic to break down since gobi expects 802.3 mode to be
always available.

As a workaround:
  - detect that 802.3 mode setting silently failed,
  - validate that raw-ip mode is still being used and,
  - Change qmiwwan driver to back to raw-ip mode

[SV 67046] Don't modify the hash table when inside hash_map*()

It's illegal for the user-supplied function to modify the hash table
while executing hash_map*() methods. snap_file() may add elements
due to EXTRA_PREREQS, so we can't call it via hash_map_args().

Diagnosis and test by Shim Manning <shimmanning@gmail.com>
Possible fix by Dmitry Goncharov <dgoncharov@users.sf.net>

* src/hash.h (hash_table): Remember when we're in hash_map*().
* src/hash.c (hash_init): Initialize the in-map value to false.
(hash_map): Set the in-map value to true when walking the map.
(hash_map_arg): Ditto.
(hash_insert_at): Assert we're not in hash_map*()
(hash_free_items): Ditto.
(hash_delete_items): Ditto.
(hash_free): Ditto.
* src/file.c (snap_deps): Use hash_dump() to create a copy of the
hash and walk that to call snap_file(), so we can add more files.
(snap_file): Since we're calling it directly, don't use void* args.

Author: Benjamin Kaduk
Revision Date: 2025-08-13 20:53:31 UTC

Properly check for dlsym() errors

In closures.c we dlopen() the main process address space so we can get
references to gvalue_from_sv, sv_from_gvalue, and perl_closure_new, but
we only check for errors by seeing if dlerror() returns a non-NULL
pointer (string). This is not correct, since we are only supposed to
inspect dlerror()'s contents if one of a certain list of functions has
returned an error (dlerror() returns information about the latest such
error).

This causes problems on FreeBSD, where the NSS implementation in libc
performs a dlsym() lookup of a "_nss_cache_cycle_protection_function"
symbls, which fails in all processes other than nscd. The FreeBSD libc
does not subsequently call dlerror() to clear the error string and so
it remains cached until we inspect it, and we erroneously treat this
cached value as indicating an error in our dlsym() usage, which trickles
up and becomes a fatal error at startup.

Fix the issue by only calling dlerror() if we experienced an error
return from dlsym() or dlclose(), clearing res to NULL in the success
case.

service: Fix comparison of services of same preferred type

The service_compare_preferred() function is called twice in
service_compare(), once with a guard to only use it on services with
differing types, but once without any such guard. In the latter case,
when comparing two services of the same preferred technology, it always
returns -1 because it checks service_a first and exits immediately, when
one would normally expect that comparison to result in a tie (return
value 0).

This causes the parent service_compare() function to terminate its
comparison early instead of applying appropriate tie-breakers like
online status, Strength or Name. The result is an unstable sort order
that depends on the initial order of services.

This patch adds a condition to service_compare_preferred() so that
the preference logic is only applied to services of different types,
without relying on calling contexts to make such checks.

I ran into this issue when reading sources to understand how ConnMan
would sort two connected Ethernet services, when one is 'online' and one
is 'ready' and 'ethernet' is in the preferred technologies list. It
seems that their online state would in fact not matter at all, instead
the service that happened to appear first in the list would win.

The issue may have been introduced in [1] when
service_compare_preferred() was extracted from its original context in
which the comparison was only applied to services of unequal types.
