Bug Description
Machine 1. Ubuntu Karmic. python-vte 1:0.22.
(heard about terminator)
sudo aptitude install terminator
(got version 0.13, I think. tested out. loved. decided to use Launchpad ppa)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome-
sudo aptitude update; sudo aptitude upgrade
(During the upgrade, I did notice that python-vte was recommended, but not installed.)
sudo aptitude install python-vte
(got above-listed versions)
Machine 2. Ubuntu Lucid. python-vte 1:0.23.
(decided to install here to help test for someone else's bug report)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome-
sudo aptitude update; sudo aptitude upgrade
(python-vte was apparently already installed)
(got above-listed versions)
I don't know what problems this situation may present, though I can imagine a few. It doesn't bother me per se, at the moment, but it is now documented.

Machine 3. Ubuntu Lucid. python-vte 1:0.23. 5-0ubuntu1. 1. Terminator 0.95. terminator
(This is booting with the Live CD.)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome-
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install terminator
(python-vte is already pre-installed)
(got above-listed versions)
I was really surprised to see that the Terminator version is not 0.95ppa2. The version string for each of these three examples was copied verbatim from the output of 'aptitude show terminator'.
