the secret agent is a masterpiece. i’ve always loved wagner moura (narcos, mr. and mrs. smith), so I was excited to see him in another role, and he did not disappoint. his character carries mystery, just like the film itself. we only begin to understand what’s happening when he finally sits down with the two reporters (or agents) as he prepares to leave the city.
the story explores loss and the way memory holds onto it. set in 1970s Brazil, the atmosphere, costumes, and setting are all beautifully done.
If you can, go watch it. It’s in Portuguese with subtitles, but it’s absolutely worth it!
