the secret agent is a masterpiece. i’ve always loved wagner moura (narcos, mr. and mrs. smith), so I was excited to see him in another role, and he did not disappoint. his character carries mystery, just like the film itself. we only begin to understand what’s happening when he finally sits down with the two reporters (or agents) as he prepares to leave the city.
the story explores loss and the way memory holds onto it. set in 1970s Brazil, the atmosphere, costumes, and setting are all beautifully done.
If you can, go watch it. It’s in Portuguese with subtitles, but it’s absolutely worth it!

I have heard the recordings and had seen the footage back in 2024 and it has haunted me since. Just like the countless news that comes out of Gaza. I wanted to watch this because I know Hind’s story deserves to be told, but it is incredibly hard to watch.
