Hello! I'm Bitmuncher from Germany. This nickname were created many years ago when a colleague asked me if I munch bits and bytes for breakfast. Because sometimes I seem to be like a „bitmuncher“. Before that I was known in the German Linux & Unix community under my nickname "theton" or "th3t0n". People from Russia mostly knew me as "KTS" or "kathus" and from my very early internet days as "ArguZ".
Professionally, I've been working in various areas in IT since 1999. In the past, I mostly worked in the areas of systems engineering, DevOps engineering and security engineering. Since 2018, I have turned my back on engineering a bit and focused more on security management. Today I always try to find jobs where I can combine Information Security Management (ISM) with Security Engineering (SecOps or similar approaches).
I fill my free time mostly with reading, (digital) drawing, photography and occasionally I play the one or other computer game. I'm also interested in the various cultures of this world, both extant and extinct, and the magic systems associated with them. But I'm currently investing most of my time in setting up an ISMS toolkit to make my job a little easier.

I use different colors for links on this website. If a link text is green, it's a link within my website. If the link text is light purple, it leads to other websites and usually opens in a new browser tab.
Anyone who knows me knows that I run various websites and blogs. This site is my personal playground on the WWW. I started with it in February 2023 and it has been subject to constant change ever since. Here I collect information on various topics that interest me and I have also integrated a blog, which became my most active blog over time. However, I don't write a diary in this blog, but articles on specific topics, mostly in the areas of IT and cybersecurity. “Active” therefore means that I work more or less regularly on new articles that I publish on the blog.
I also publish some of my photos and drawings in the Art & Photos section.
I don't write all content in English. My blog and some other content is written in German, as this is my native language. German content is always marked with “(DE)” in the navigation menu. When I publish content in both English and German, the German versions are usually a little better articulated. Sorry for that! 😅
Frequently I'm asked certain questions about this site. Here are my usual answers.
Why do you use Neocities?
I like the idea of an ad-free website hosting that is also suitable for building a small community around your site. That's why I'm happy to support Neocities as a supporter. The restriction to static content (HTML, CSS and Javascript) reminds me of my early days on the Internet.
How can I create my own page on Neocities?
To create a website on Neocities, you should know some HTML and CSS or be willing to learn it. You can find a very good tutorial on W3Schools, for example.
Simply create an account on neocities.org and give your new website a name. Note that the name will also be the subdomain of your new site: <yoursitename>.neocities.org! The rest will be explained to you in a tutorial after your first login. There is also a very friendly community on Reddit that will be happy to help you if you have any questions.
Do you use a static site generator?
People who know that I have quite a lot of experience in programming expect me to use a static site generator. Although I initially considered using a tool like Gatsby, in the end I decided against it. Instead, I create new pages from a template file, which I then fill with content. I want to focus on content here and not bother with frameworks that other people are building and that are subject to constant changes over which I have little or no control. But maybe I'll use an SSG at some point in the future. I can't say yet.
Where do the images you use at the top of each page come from?
These images, called "Bauschicons", were created by my girlfriend for my personal branding. However, I only use a few of them here. The collection is much bigger. According to her, they portray me in various everyday situations. 😄
Can I use the Bauschicons on my own website?
Sorry, like most of the images on my site (with the exception of the badges), the Bauschicons are subject to copyright. They may only be used by me and my girlfriend.
Can I use the design of your site for my own website?
Yes, you can do that as long as you replace the images with your own images. The HTML and Javascript code as well as the CSS can be used as you like.
How can I get in contact with you?
The best way to contact me is via Bluesky. My handle there is the domain of my Neocities page. You can also find me on HaBo under my nickname 'bitmuncher'.
