The Now Page
This is a page concept I saw on Matt Cole Wilson's website, who in turn got it from Derek Sivers. Seems like a fun enough idea, so let's talk about right now!

Personal
The biggest thing going on for me right now is that I moved from Texas to Minnesota. In winter! Since moving I've been enjoying the snow on the ground and some local winter events. Having snow on the ground for Christmas was incredibly nice. I've been told that this particular winter has been drier than normal so there's not as much snow, which is fine by me right now, I'm still learning my way around. Cover the city in a blanket of white and it all starts to look so similar, I'm likely to take a wrong turn and get lost.
I started a new job in February, days before the severance from my last job was scheduled to end. I cut it pretty close on that one! As of right now the commute is obnoxiously long, but my husband and I specifically signed a short lease with the intention of moving closer to wherever we happened to get jobs. I don't particularly want to pack up/unpack everything AGAIN, but a move would shave both of our commutes down significantly, and we'd save a lot of gas. Hard to say no to that. Plus, starting sometime in the summer I will have the ability to work a handful of days every week from home. So, if I can just put up with a crummy commute and a lack of free time on weekdays for just a few more months, I'll be in a much better situation by late summer.
Projects
Did I mention I moved 1000 miles from where I used to live?
I'm going to write a much bigger thing later, but I've begun selling old stuff on Ebay. From about 2006-2018ish I did a lot of retro game collecting. It used to be cheap and easy to do, every trip to the Goodwill or a garage sale would net me something for less than a meal at Burger King. I've got several boxes of games, which is very cool and all, but not conducive to apartment living. So I've begun downsizing my collection. I've also been dabbling into buying old stuff at estate sales and selling it up on Ebay. I'm not making enough money to make this my full-time job, but it is bringing in some extra money which I've been using to save for a new car.
What are you listening to?
I've really been enjoying Lady Gaga's MAYHEM at the moment. It's funny, I don't listen to a lot of pop, but when one grabs me, it GRABS me. I should also mention Triple Seven by Wishy, which came out last year but I became aware of it sometime in January.
What are you reading?
A few weeks ago I also finished Sea of Rust by Robert Cargill. It's a fun post-apocalyptic quasi-western with a cast of robots. Except the robot characters in the book all think, talk, emote, and act like humans. I have a pet peeve about media where the main characters are robots but are written exactly like humans except for the fact that say shit like "optic receptors" instead of "eyes". Sea of Rust is nothing but that fron cover to cover. BUT, I still really enjoyed my time with the book, which is saying something.
Other than that, my venture into selling stuff on Ebay has led me to reread Killer Stuff and Tons of Money, a book about the world of flea market antique buyers by Maureen Stanton. I read it about a decade ago and it still rattles around in my brain, especially back in my retro game collecting days. Maybe retro game collecting and antique bottle collecting have little to do with each other, but we share a common love over the thrill of the hunt.
What are you playing?
Yesterday I put about 30 minutes into Logiart Grimoire, and that's the most I've played of any sort of video game in weeks. I just do not have any time or any motivation to play anything at the moment. That hasn't stopped me from buying a few things from the most recent Steam sale though. I'll get around to playing these games eventually! Probably!
