What a copout
What I mean is that it wasn’t the good times for the millions of people.
Capitalism will never be sufficiently regulated because the regulators will inevitably become corrupted by and subordinate to capital.
We don’t want people being productive long term. We need to chew people up and spit them out young so we have enough work for the endless unwashed hoards.
But also, we have a declining birthrate problem and nobody wants to work anymore.
And also, AI will do all our work for us and since most of us don’t own any capital we can be made into fertilizer.
I also took a pretty US centric view of your comment. If you’re from a country in which the 90s were indeed The Good Times, just ignore me.
In the US, there were probably more people living stable middle class lives than there are today but there was still a very large and mostly ignored underclass, and there always has been.
My comment was very US-centered. I apologize for that.
Certainly the 90s were more stable and prosperous for more people than today, but to say those were the good old days means you would have to ignore:
- Extreme urban decay
- Unchecked police violence against minorities
- Vile homophobia in the mainstream and no recognition at all of trans people
- The rise of commodified suburban housing, stores, and restaurants
- Our government’s Imperial ambition becoming completely unchecked in the wake of the fall of the Soviet Union
There were never good old days.
EDIT: also, isn’t that when school shootings really took off?

I’d be curious to know what you would do to stop it if you lived in a country whose government was supporting a genocide. In fact, I wonder what country you live in and what you do to oppose any atrocities its government might be committing.
Windows is the worst setup you could imagine and they’re ditching that. Sounds like a win to me.

Less infighting please
Yes, language evolves haphazardly and often doesn’t make literal sense.
Alright, that’s my 2 cents. I’ll catch you on the flipside.
OMG pasta salad is one place where I don’t put mayo. Let’s hope we never have to plan a cookout together :D
You don’t like mayo? What an affront to all things holy!

You could make it all fit if you were truly dedicated.

Arch is Amazing. Bazzite is Beautiful. CentOS is Civilized. Debian is Dope. Endeavour is Enchanting. Fedora is Fantastic.
I use Fedora so I’m stopping at F.
