Hi, I've been using Audacity since 2000, and everything was fantastic, until 2025, when the latest 3.7.5 version started to FREEZE, and now it takes me 1 min to save a working file! To ease its workflow, I chop my 1-hour short stories to 15-min segments just to be able to clean the audio, because the program can't handle the full audiobook as it used to in ALL its previous versions! I reinstalled it, reinstalled FFMPEG, reset everything a 100 times over, but it still freezes even though the saved working file is under 500 MB. Whether WAV or MP3 it doesn't matter. It still freezes after 10 minutes work!!! So, I had to downgrade to 3.0, but it lacks all the new features you offer. My Wil-11 HP laptop is AMD Ryzen 5, 32GB RAM, and 1TB SSD, so I have plenty of horsepower. Please tell me what else can be done to fix this glitch? THX
Excellent sound editor with a huge range of instruments. Use it for elementary types of pruning or lowering / raising the tone and so on. N. Especially, I like the new version. Lots of nice fixes. Just very well that it is free.
Been using this to edit my podcasts, having never really using any sound editor before.
It has just what I needed - the option for fine editing, combining a few sound files into one, fading in or out (for music intros/outros), and more.
My only little issue is that once you save a project, it will create a folder that takes much more space than the original file(s) size. It creates an internal project file which is a tiny file but also a folder of quite a few gigabytes that the project file itself won't work without. So you might wanna back up those folders.
But great great software for editing.
