Angie "Neylan" Wimmer has a rich and diverse passion for the arts.

She studied art and dance at the University of Nebraska Lincoln where she holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting and textiles.  In 2000 she relocated back to her native New England to pursue a career as an oncology nurse, explore dance and movement arts.

She quickly discovered a deep connection to belly dance and became part of the New England Belly Dance community.   Over 20 years of performing and teaching, she is known for her unique blend of Global Caravan Tribal Style Bellydance® and World dances styles.  She continues to be a vital force locally and across the globe.

Her love of artistic expression with textiles lent to creating original costume designs for her belly dance performances. Then in 2016 she expanded her studio into weaving and art creating spaces making a full circle back to her love of fiber and paint.

She teaches dance and art at her Blue Moon Studios as well as multiple workshops through out the year.  She is a Master Teacher of Global Caravan Tribal Belly Dance, a Member of Global Caravan International Dance Troupe.  She is a Certified 200 hr Yoga Alliance teacher.  Her artistic outreach includes membership in the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative and Attleboro Art Museum.  She shows in various local exhibits.  She is also part of the guest teachers at the Heartspot Gallery in East Providence RI

She resides in Attleboro, MA with her devoted husband, her many looms, a lot of oil paints, a crazy amount of encaustic waxx

-Artist Statement
My work is an ongoing conversation with the idea of the hidden story.  I see a deep connection between what is seen and unseen, how our energy connects across time and space.  I like to blur the defined lines of the edges in our fore and background stories and add in color, texture, movement to create a visual story.
As an oncology nurse, I’ve learned to look beyond the surface to find the truth in our human experience.  I want the viewer to connect to my work in a personal and meaningful way.  To find their story in the moment.  Whether I'm using dance or art to express myself, I try to hold those moments in time between myself and the viewer.
