This was OK. Good plot, and not a villain I suspected. But over all this didn't have me searching out another book from this author....Read more
...All in all, I love this story. It flows smoothly and there was less back and forth of will they or won't they than books 2 and 3....Read more

I really liked this book. I liked the plot, I liked the characters a lot. I liked how strong and resilient Fredrica was, even though she loved Jasper very much she would accept nothing short of his love. Recommend this series.

The book had enough suspense to keep me interested. I also like Jasper and Frederica's story; especially with them developing their friendship to love.

Beautiful love story that had some realness and less fluff. I love the bit of history and the strength of the characters in the face of adversity. A second chance romance between friends that had me engaged to the end. Great story!

Wow, this book was very uneven. It vacillated between 2 and 3 stars, I admit I went into it with my arms folded, a bit, as I really disliked the heroine of the previous book. I ended up liking this heroine, and understanding her motives for her decisions, and then she suddenly (and randomly, though explained after the fact) reversed the huge decision that she had been clinging to for the first 3/4 of the book. I like a good a-ha moment/scene wen momentous decisions happen and that did not happen here. So at about the 75% mark the rating plummeted. I was, sort of, intrigued by the mystery of the rest of the book, and I ultimately liked this heroine, and there were more and better scenes of the friendships that link these books and the hero and his brother (who is the hero of the first book) which brought my rating back up, somewhat.

I enjoy this Regency series because Riley has such a distinctive voice. This installment is a sweet, slow-burn, friends-to-lovers romance with an element of suspense and a hero I really felt for.
