TV tonight: the American version of Martin Clunes comedy Doc Martin

Josh Charles is the grumpy lead in new series Best Medicine. Plus: it’s Alan Carr’s maximalist Interior Design Masters final. Here’s watch to watch this evening

Best Medicine

8pm, Sky One
“I find the people here demanding, irrational and far too chatty in supermarkets.” Like Martin Clunes’s Doc Martin – upon which this US comedy is based – Martin Best just wants to be left alone. He’s good at his job, but his bedside manner leaves plenty to be desired. However, his hopes of a quiet life in a small fishing village in Maine are set to be repeatedly dashed. A little bland, but Josh Charles is an appropriately lugubrious lead. Phil Harrison

Interior Design Masters With Alan Carr

8pm, BBC One
To Longleat for the final, where the two remaining contestants must transform a holiday cottage. Both are maximalists who throw every colourful idea they have at their projects, which means only one guest judge could ever do: Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen. Jack Seale

Bake Off: The Professionals

8pm, Channel 4
It’s crunch time in the baking contest, as the elite pastry chefs battle for a place in the final six with treats such as pizza-inspired laminated tarts and hazelnut praline-filled cream buns. Then, biscuits inspired by landmarks including the Louvre in Paris and Tokyo’s Sensō-ji temple. Nicole Vassell

Who Do You Think You Are?

9pm, BBC One

The genealogy perennial continues with actor and presenter Joe Swash putting his family tree under the microscope. He’s keen to uncover his Italian roots, but he gets some surprises along the way – these include murder, political activism, banditry and, more comfortingly, a family bar. PH

The Fortune

9pm, Channel 5
After last week’s shock ending, the penultimate episode of the inheritance drama finds a shaken and paranoid Amanda heading back from Northumberland to search for answers about her dad. Meanwhile, there are questions around the contents of Martin’s suitcase, which is now in Fiona and Anthony’s possession, while Jimmy continues his shady behaviour. Priya Elan

England 2006: The Golden Generation

10.40pm, BBC One
Ah, 2006. Wags, Baden-Baden and the Golden Generation. This tabloid-coded film digs into the England World Cup squad who left the country as contenders and returned as a byword for underachievement. Where did it go wrong? On the basis of the interviews here, none of them seemed to have any fun at all. PH

Live sport

Women’s international football, England v Ukraine, 7.30pm, ITV1. A World Cup qualifier.
