I’m not saying I want to kill myself but it sure would be nice to be in the hospital for a month or two



​My graduation project ​“Highschool or : I’m not saying I want to kill myself but it sure would be nice to be in the hospital for a month or two” is a 12 minute 2D animated narrative short that follows a 15- year-old high school girl through a day filled with boredom, stress and fear.

​Balancing the demands of endless school hours, her toxic friend group and her troubled family life, the protagonists internal world is filled with intrusive thoughts of violent self harm.​ Surreal animated sequences depict her emotional reality. 

This film has screened at several festivals, such as Sunderlands Shorts Film Festival & Flicks International Student Short Film Festival. It won the price for Best Animation at Dublin International Short Film and Music Video Festival. Hussah, I guess! You can watch it below. 

About me 

 I am a social artist, animated filmmaker, musician, illlustrator and activist, born with the 21st century in Berlin, Germany. 
I graduated with a Bachelor of Animation from Willem de Kooning Academy Rotterdam in July 2023.

I enjoy expressing my feelings and observations about life in any medium, but my main game are 2D animated narrative short films that explore the complex mess that is 21st century existence. I am currently in the development phase of a new project with Valkproducties which is being funded by Nederlands Film Funds.

To me, the most interesting aspect of my practice is using the versatile narrative and visual tools of animated film to capture the emotional realities of my characters.
I want to tell nuanced, human stories that spread understanding and empathy for social issues of our time by approaching them through the lense of personal experience. 

Next to my core practice of making animated film, I write and perform music about feelings that peruse my brain and heart. I also love to do illustration projects in collaboration with other people.
