If you look into the guy, he thinks that the punishment for what he did should be a minimum of ten years in prison, (and were I the prosecutor I would be so tempted to throw it in his face).

Of course, he probably thinks this statue is different. (After all, it's not a statue of a racist, slaving, treasonous, scumbag that was erected to intimidate black people.)

i suspect it might be related to the fact that Tiamat is an evil aligned deity. Have someone come in to worship Bahamut and see how he reacts to that.
