Eastview Mall evacuated after bomb threat reported

Eastview Mall was evacuated and closed early Monday evening following a bomb threat at the Ontario County property.

What sparked the evacuation?

Ontario County's 911 Center received the threat around 6:15 p.m. Monday, June 8, claiming several bombs were on the property, according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies and mall security officers evacuated the mall property and its surrounding parking lots. Several nearby businesses were also evacuated.

Mall officials announced within the hour that the mall would close for the rest of the evening "out of an abundance of caution" due to the threat.

Investigating the threat

K-9 units from the Ontario County and Monroe County sheriff's offices investigated at the scene.

No explosives were found on the property, deputies said.

Deputies continue to investigate the threat.
