Samba Server for eCS (OS/2) init script Version 3.1.0 ===================================================== Copyright (C) netlabs.org 2007-2009 1. Introduction: ---------------- Most Samba packages for various *nix flavors come with a shell script in order to quickly start or stop the Samba services. smb.cmd (written in REXX) provides the same functionality for eCS (OS/2). 2. Installation: ---------------- smb.cmd should reside in the same directory as smbd.exe and nmbd.exe. It requires REXXUTIL.DLL, VROBJ.DLL and PR1UTIL.DLL in LIBPATH. 3. Usage: --------- The usage of smb.cmd mimics the usage of the *nix shell scripts and is quite straight forward: smb {start|stop|restart|reload|status|test} In addition a similar plugin feature found in IBM's TCPSTART.CMD is present in smb.cmd: - If a file named B4SMB.CMD is found in the Samba directory, it will be run before the Samba services are started. - If a file named SMBEXIT.CMD is found in the Samba directory, it will be run after the Samba services have been stopped. smb.cmd is also used by SWAT and smbmon.exe to start or stop the Samba daemons. In addition Samba daemons that refuse to stop peacefully are killed using Paul Ratcliffe's excellent PR1Util.DLL. 4. Author: ---------- Herwig Bauernfeind mailto:herwig.bauernfeind@aon.at
