61. Introduction:
----------------

Most Samba packages for various *nix flavors come with a shell script in order
to quickly start or stop the Samba services.

smb.cmd (written in REXX) provides the same functionality for eCS (OS/2).

142. Installation:
----------------

smb.cmd should reside in the same directory as smbd.exe and nmbd.exe.
It requires REXXUTIL.DLL, VROBJ.DLL and PR1UTIL.DLL in LIBPATH.

203. Usage:
---------

The usage of smb.cmd mimics the usage of the *nix shell scripts
and is quite straight forward:

smb {start|stop|restart|reload|status|test}

[283]28In addition a similar plugin feature found in IBM's TCPSTART.CMD is present
in smb.cmd:
[193]30
- If a file named B4SMB.CMD is found in the Samba directory, it will be run
before the Samba services are started.

- If a file named SMBEXIT.CMD is found in the Samba directory, it will be run
after the Samba services have been stopped.

[283]37smb.cmd is also used by SWAT and smbmon.exe to start or stop the Samba daemons.
[193]38
In addition Samba daemons that refuse to stop peacefully are killed using
Paul Ratcliffe's excellent PR1Util.DLL.
