FEATURED BOOKSURED
the Darkside of the garden
This book looks at the early years of the challenges that I faced from racial discrimination and segregation that was a rife in Pukekohe. The Dark Side of the Garden is the confronting story of what it was like to grow up Maaori in Pukekohe. Living in the market gardens and attending the Pukekohe Maaori School, which purported to help Maaori children retain our culture but forced us to assimilate into European culture, was a very traumatic experience for myself and the other Maaori children.
The Weight of Silence (Coming Soon)

public Speaking
Intergenerational trauma caused by racial discrimination and segregation is a silent epidemic. In my talk I shed light on this critical issue and empower us to take action. This isn't just a discussion; it's a call to arms. I remember my mother, a woman of incredible strength, telling me about being denied service in a shop, simply because of her skin colour. The hurt in her voice, the quiet dignity she carried the injustice that stayed with me. That's why I share my story, and the stories of others, to break the cycle of silence and pain. We can't afford to ignore this any longer. The time for complacency is over. We need your voice, your energy, your commitment. Let's build a more just and equitable future, together. Attend one of my talks and be a part of the change. Don't just listen - act. Let's turn those painful memories into a powerful movement for justice.
I have shared my experiences growing up in a racially segregation era. Through many public talks to large groups of Principals, teachers, school staff, parents, students and community.
To gauge interest, I have created a "Contact form" to fill in. Should you require my service to talk on this topic to your group, classroom , students, organization or Community I will endeavor to oblige.
Ngaa Mihi.
