Required columns for importing CSVs

Learn what columns are required for event & e-commerce data

Written by Mark

When importing contacts or purchase data into Hive, some fields are required to ensure your data is mapped correctly. Every CSV import must include at least one of the following:

  • Email address

  • Phone number

In addition to subscriber data, you can also import past ticketing and ecommerce purchase data.

Note: Hive will automatically detect the type of data in each column (e.g., First name, Email). Always double-check that the auto-selected types match your data. To adjust, click the drop-down arrow and select the correct column type.

If there are columns you donโ€™t want to import, select โ€œ-โ€ as the column type.

Importing ticketing data

If you have past ticket purchase data, you can upload your CSV from:
โ€‹Contacts > Import contacts > Upload contact CSV file

Once imported:

  • Events from your CSV will appear on your Events page.

  • You can use event filters in your contact list to build segments based on purchase data.
