How to add customers to a segment in an email automation

Add customers who enter an automation into a static segment instantly

Adding contacts who enter an automation to a segment makes it easier to filter for those users and target them later with focused campaigns.


Add contacts to a segment when creating an automation

  1. Go to the Automations page and click + New automation.

  2. Select Build your own automation.

  3. Enter an internal title for your automation (this is only visible in your dashboard).

  4. Choose the trigger that starts the automation, such as:

    • Purchases a ticket

    • Signs up through a capture tool

  5. Add any rules to specify who enters and continues in the automation.

  6. Add your action:

    • Click the + icon and select Add to segment.

    • In the sidebar, choose a static segment.

    • If the segment doesnโ€™t exist, type in a name and click Create new segment.


Finish setting up your automation

After adding the segment action, complete your automation by:

  • Customizing the time delay between the trigger and actions

  • Choosing a template or building the SMS

  • Adding any additional delays and campaigns youโ€™d like to send
