You can create segments in Hive from three different places:
Segments page
Contact list
CSV import

Create a segment from the Segments page
In the left sidebar, click Segments > + New segment.
Enter a name for your segment.
Choose the segment type:
Live segment — captures subscribers who match your filters now and in the future
Static segment — captures subscribers who match your filters right now (can only be updated manually)
Click Add filters and select your filter(s) or filter group(s).

(Optional) Click Update users count to preview how many contacts are included.
Once finalized, click Save.
Create a segment from the Contact list
In the left sidebar, click Contact list, then click Add filters.
Select your filter(s) or filter group(s), then click Save to filter the list.
Click Add to segment at the top of the page to create a segment based on the filters you applied.
Create a segment during CSV import
During the Choose segments step of the import process, select a segment for your uploaded contacts.
To add to an existing segment: start typing its name and select it from the dropdown.
To create a new segment: click Create new segment and enter a name.
CSV imports can be added to multiple segments upon upload. Once selected, click Continue.
