Update event information in Hive: why it’s important and how to do it

Written by Jessica Ng

Whether your event was created by a manual data import or synced from a ticketing platform, you may want to add or edit details. Accurate event details matter because:

There are two ways to update event details in Hive: from the Event Hub directly, or inline from within the Upcoming Events block in the email builder. The Event Hub is the source of truth for event records, but you can now make and save edits without leaving the email you're working on.

Edit an event from Event Hub

  1. Go to the events page, locate the event you want to edit, and click the event title to open the event hub.

  2. At the top of the event hub (beneath the event image), click edit event.

  3. Toggle between the display and details tabs and update the fields you need.

  4. Click update to save your changes.

Edit an event from an email template

You can also edit event details directly from the email builder, without leaving your campaign. This works inside the Upcoming Events block.

  1. Open the email template that contains the Upcoming Events block.

  2. Hover over the event you want to edit and click it.

  3. In the right-hand panel, update the fields you need, for example, the title, image, artist, or ticketing link.

  4. When you save or close the editor, Hive checks your changes against the saved event record. If any fields differ, you'll see a pop up message asking whether to push those edits back to Event Hub.

You'll have three options:

  • Update Event: If you feel good about the changes, you can click "Update Event" and update the event directly from this message

  • Review changes: By clicking this option, Hive will provide a review of the changes, and you can decide whether you want to apply them to the event in the next step

  • Keep changes only in this email: If you want to keep your edits local to this template, you can simply close this notification; the event record in Event Hub is left as-is.

Pro tip:

  • Use Update Event for real corrections (e.g., a typo in the title or a fixed ticketing link).

  • Use Keep Current Details only in this email when the override is specific to one campaign (e.g., a custom image for a one-off newsletter feature)

Important notes

  • If you have a pre-post automation running, updated dates and times will not retroactively apply. We recommend editing your live automation to exclude that event and sending the pre/post emails manually for that specific case.

  • If your campaigns use merge tags, they'll update automatically with your new event details. Learn more about merge tags.

  • If you've manually entered event details in your emails or SMS, they won't update automatically.
