To publish ads or sync audiences to Meta from Hive, you'll first need to connect your Meta Business Manager (also called your Meta Business Account).
Connecting your Business Manager allows Hive to access your Meta Ad Accounts and send campaigns and Custom Audiences to Meta on your behalf.
What You Need Before You Start
1. A Meta Business Manager
You must connect a Meta Business Manager (or Business Portfolio) that owns or has access to the Facebook Page you want to run ads from. This connection lets Hive publish and manage campaigns on your behalf.

2. A Meta Ad Account with admin access + billing set up
Your Meta Ad Account funds your actual ad spend. Hive charges a subscription fee, but your media budget is still paid directly to Meta through your Ad Account. You must have admin or advertiser access to the Ad Account you want to use.

Steps to Connect Your Meta Account to Hive
1. Go to Hive Ads
Navigate to Ads (Audiences or Campaigns) in your left-hand menu.
2. Click “Connect”
You’ll be prompted to log in with your Facebook profile. This profile must have admin access to the Meta Business Manager and the Meta Ad Accounts you want to use.
3. Grant Permissions
Approve the permission request so Hive can access your Business Manager, Ad Accounts, and allowed Facebook Pages.
4. Select your Meta Ad Account
Once authorized, choose the Meta Ad Account you want Hive to use. This becomes your default account for syncing audiences and launching campaigns.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I connect multiple Ad Accounts?
Yes, you can connect multiple Ad Accounts to Hive. Those accounts will need to be connected to your Business Manager. However, Hive currently supports using only one Ad Account at a time per campaign.
Why don’t I see my Ad Account listed?
Check the following:
You’re logged into the correct Facebook profile
The Ad Account is part of your Meta Business Manager
You have admin or advertiser access to the Ad Account
The Ad Account is not disabled, restricted, or personal
Can I disconnect my Meta account later?
Yes. Go to Ads → Details → Disconnect Ad Account to remove Meta access from Hive at any time.
What happens if I connect my Meta account and later gain access to additional ad accounts?
You do not need to reconnect your Meta account. Hive automatically refreshes your Meta credentials on a regular cadence. If you gain access to new ad accounts in your Meta Business Manager, they will appear in Hive within an hour. Likewise, if your access to an ad account is removed, Hive will automatically mark it as unavailable.
How does the default ad account work if I have multiple ad accounts?
The default ad account is used as the pre-selected option when creating an audience or starting a new campaign in Hive. If you have access to multiple ad accounts, you can change the selection during setup to use a different ad account. The default simply helps streamline setup, but you are not locked into it.
Do I need a Dataset to run Hive Ads?
For traffic campaigns a Dataset is optional. You can run Ads and sync audiences without one. For Sales (Conversion) campaigns, a Dataset will need to be selected.
Will connecting my Business Manager automatically connect all Ad Accounts?
Connecting your Business Manager allows Hive to see all Ad Accounts you have permission to use. You’ll still choose which Ad Account to activate in Hive.
Why don’t I see my Facebook Page listed?
Facebook Pages only appear if:
The Page is owned by your Business Manager, or
The Business Manager was granted access to the Page
Your Facebook profile has advertiser or above permissions on the Page
Can I run Ads for multiple Facebook Pages?
Yes, as long as the Page is connected to the same Ad Account you selected in Hive. Ad Accounts determine which Pages you can publish Ads from.
Does Hive cover my Meta Ad spend?
No. Hive charges a separate cost to access Hive Ads. Your actual ad spend is billed directly by Meta through your Ad Account.
I’ve accepted the permissions, but I’m still having trouble connecting. What should I do?
In some cases, Meta requires the individual Facebook account to complete additional verification. Please make sure two-factor authentication (2FA)is enabled on the Facebook profile used to grant access.
