Running SMS campaigns shouldn’t feel like a guessing game. Whether you're promoting a festival, or filling seats at a venue you need to know what’s working and where your budget is going.
Hive’s enhanced SMS Reporting takes the mystery out of SMS performance, giving you real-time transparency into costs, engagement, and revenue so you can make smarter decisions, faster.
Note: If you don’t pay Hive directly for your SMS/MMS usage, your costs won’t be visible in the platform. To get a detailed breakdown, we recommend contacting your ticketing or agency partner.
Before you send your SMS
When creating an SMS, you’ll see a cost estimate based on the message type (SMS or MMS), the number of recipients, and the message size. For more details on SMS pricing, check out this article.
Note: When using SMS quick campaigns, you can also set a budget cap to ensure your SMS cost stays under a certain amount. An example of how the budgeting feature works, if your recipient count is larger than expected, you can set a budget and the system will automatically keep you within it by randomly removing contacts from the send list until it matches your budget.
Where to find your SMS Stats
You have a couple of ways to review your SMS data. You can export all send data and stats to analyze outside of Hive, or view a custom dashboard for each individual SMS send.
All SMS Stats
Downloading your SMS data provides a complete breakdown of costs, engagement, and revenue impact. You can also build a custom dashboard to analyze your results in more detail.
To access your export:
Go to Campaigns > SMS.
Click Export SMS Stats, enter the email address where you’d like to receive the file and click EXPORT. Within minutes, the export will arrive in your inbox.
Below is the data included in your export:
Specific SMS Stats
If you want to view the performance of a specific SMS:
Go to Campaigns > SMS.
Select an SMS campaign to open its reporting.
SMS Summary
The Summary section provides a high-level overview of that SMS campaign, including:
Number of SMS messages delivered
Number and % of SMS clicks
Wondering why you can’t view opens for SMS? Text messages don’t contain tracking pixels or similar technology—once delivered to a phone, there’s no way to know if they were actually opened.
Number and % of opt-outs
Number and % of failed messages
An SMS marketing message might fail if the recipient’s number is invalid, their phone is turned off or out of service, their carrier blocks the message, or the message violates carrier or compliance rules.
Ticketing and E Commerce Revenue Stats: Attributed revenue for that specific SMS campaign
Clicking the View Report button at the bottom of your summary page will take you to the Recipient Stats view.
SMS Recipient Stats
The Recipient Stats page includes all the summary details above, plus:
Demographic information (age and gender)
Location data for recipients
This information is pulled directly from contact profiles in Hive and depends on the data you’ve collected for those recipients.
SMS Engagement Stats
The Engagement Stats page shows your summary metrics in graph form and allows you to adjust the timeframe.
Example: You can filter the data to display only engagement from the first 3 hours after the send.
SMS Ticketing Revenue Breakdown
This section shows where ticket sales attributed to that SMS came from.
Example: If you promoted multiple upcoming events and generated $1,000 in attributed revenue, this page will display which specific event ticket sales (both # of orders and ticket count) make up that $1,000.
