- A Conversation About Natural Hair and the Humans that Rock It -
Adjust My Crown, For What! Exactly what our panelists highlighted during the much anticipated conversation around the natural hair journey for people of color. Held at WeWork Metropolitan Square, the special Black History Month conversation focused on the impact recent cases of hair discrimination have had on society, and how laws like the CROWN Act, are influencing change across the country.
An informative fireside chat with political strategist and CROWN Act champion, Adjoa B. Asamoah (@adjoabasamoah) and Montgomery County Councilmember, Will Jawando set the stage for this important conversation. Hermela Soloman, beautify influencer, moderated the lively panel that followed featuring - Rabiah Alicia Burks (@rabiahaburks) communications director at FAMM, Heather Burris (@joifulthoughts) author of Hair Like Me, Councilman Jawando (@willjawando), host and senior executive producer at Podcast Village, Brittany Johnson (@b.on.top), and internationally recognized hair cutting and design leader, Diane Cole Stevens (@colestevenssalon).
Not only did the theme draw a diverse group of leaders and experts on the topic to the discussion, but the room exuded the foundation of the conversation. Afros, twists, locks, curls, straight, wavy, vibrant color and even gray, guests proudly showcased their natural crown, emphasising the power behind the movement.
To continue the conversation across various platforms, Capture Create Media (CCM) is developing a short form series capturing the panel experience. Check out photos from the event here and subscribe to the blog, PodTv Bites, to be the first to view behind the scenes videos and more.
